Autologous Neural Implant Human Trial Set For 2025
Our friends at Spinalpedia recently posted this article in their monthly newsletter.
“Scientists in Israel who are experts in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine have developed an autologous neural implant - an implant engineered from a patient's own fat tissue and blood - which is used to engineer functional nerve tissue.
Scientists will put this implant into the injured area of a spinal cord in people with spinal cord injuries and hope it will become a biological bridge to reconnect nerve communication, restore movement and sensation in injured patients. After receiving approval from the Israeli Ministry of Health, they plan on treating their first patient later this year.”
