Research Opportunity for Fresno Area SCI Wheelchair Users!

Researchers at California State University, Fresno are conducting a study about the Garmin Vivoactive 5 Fitness Trainer.

To participate:

1. Age 18 years or older

2. Spinal Cord Injury for 1+ year

3. Use a manual wheelchair for the majority of daily activities

4. Be able to read and communicate in English

5. Not have been on bedrest for more than 2 weeks over the past 6 months

6. Cannot have significant cardiac, respiratory, orthopedic conditions limiting your daily wheelchair activities

Study Details: This study is seeking participants who will participate in a 6-minute wheelchair push

test. Two trials of the push test will be completed while wearing a Garmin digital wrist watch to

measure the push count and monitor your heart rate. A heart rate monitor will also be worn on your

arm during the test. The study will be performed at Fresno State in the Physical Therapy Intercollegiate

Building. The study will require 2 hours to complete. Following completion of the study, a $20 gift

card will be given for participation.
