Participate in a Research Study – Get a free iPad Mini!

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center is offering a research study aimed at helping adults with spinal cord injuries manage their health through personalized nutrition guidance. The Tele-Nutrition program focuses on reducing risks of diet-related issues such as obesity, high cholesterol, and diabetes while enhancing bowel and bladder function. Participants receive tailored counseling from a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to build sustainable eating habits that support long-term wellness.

Eligible individuals must meet specific criteria to join:

  • At least 20 years old and one year post spinal cord injury

  • Body Mass Index between 22 and 50 kg/m²

  • Able to attend a few in-person visits at SCVMC and use an iPad for regular sessions

  • Primary language must be either English or Spanish

The study spans six months with randomized timing for counseling sessions, and all who complete requirements receive an iPad mini plus a six-month data plan at no cost. Those who consent but do not meet final criteria still earn a $10 gift card.

Interested parties can reach study coordinator Cria-May Khong at (408) 885-4177 or Cria-May.Khong@hhs.sccgov.org to learn more and see if they qualify.
