Second Chance for Growth and Resilience: Mental Health Series with Dr. H’Sien Hayward

If you missed out last time, here is your second chance! Our first run of this incredible program was an absolute hit, and everyone who joined loved the experience. Because of that overwhelming support, we are bringing it back for round two. Mark your calendars: the new series kicks off on September 23rd and continues for six weeks.

It is no secret that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. Yet after a spinal cord injury (SCI), many individuals focus heavily on physical rehabilitation while setting emotional well-being aside. Addressing both is vital for long-term recovery, overall health, and quality of life.

NorCal SCI is proud to partner once again with Dr. H'Sien Hayward for this interactive 6-part Zoom series. Dr. Hayward is a Harvard-trained clinical psychologist, Stanford-trained postdoctoral fellow, wheelchair user living with an SCI, and Northern California resident. Her groundbreaking research on the science of happiness and post-traumatic growth brings deep insight and practical value to every session.

To ensure an intimate and supportive environment, participation remains limited to a small group of up to 10 participants.

What the Series Covers:

  • Mental Health Realities: Navigating common emotional challenges after an SCI.

  • Effective Care: Exploring evidence-based treatment options tailored for the community.

  • Practical Tools: Actionable psychological strategies to build resilience and everyday well-being.

Whether you are newly injured, years post-injury, or supporting a loved one with an SCI, this group offers a unique space to connect, learn, and grow alongside an expert who truly understands.

Spots are highly limited and will fill fast. Register your interest now so you don't get FOMO again!

* Please note that this interactive series requires participants to keep their cameras on, fully participate, and commit to attending all six sessions from September 23 to October 28.
