·       Pressure Sores and Flap Surgery: Everything You Wanted to Know But Were Afraid to Ask

Pressure sores, pressure injuries, bed sores, or decubitus ulcers, no matter what you call them, can be a major problem for people with spinal cord injury. Wound care takes many forms, but if wounds cannot be healed, sometimes flap surgery is the treatment of last resort. Whether flap surgery is potentially on your horizon or something to understand as a person with SCI, family, friend, or associated health care provider, this will be an opportunity to learn about pressure sores and reconstruction surgery. Kari Keys, MD, UW Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery, will discuss what goes into evaluating pressure sores, preparing for surgery, the surgery itself, and the post-surgery recovery and care. As part of this, Dr. Keys will discuss the interdisciplinary pressure sore program at Harborview Medical Center.  Join us! Credits will be available for PT/OT: 1.5 contact hours.

·       Join the Zoom Meeting or In-Person (UW Medical Center location TBD)!
