SCI Connections In Person Event November 20th – Aging with SCI

NorCal SCI and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center are proud to host the upcoming quarterly SCI connections event on Thursday, November 20th. The topic will be Aging with SCI and our speaker will be none other than SCVMC’s own chief of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic, Dr. Kazuko Shem.

For many wheelchair users and survivors of SCI, the unique needs and conditions of aging while living with SCI can be confusing and overwhelming. No matter what stage you’re in following your injury, this topic is essential as we all better understand how we can maintain our health as we get older.

Dr. Shem is an affiliated clinical professor for Stanford Orthopedic Department within the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the principal investigator for the SCI Model Systems Northern CA center and has conducted many clinical research studies in SCI over the last 30 years.

After the 45 minute presentation covering considerations for aging with SCI, we will host a Q&A segment followed by time to network and enjoy dinner.

The event is free but we ask that you register HERE so we can plan our food needs accordingly. If you’re unable to make it in person, we will also livestream the event on zoom.

If you have any questions or need more info about the event, please contact Robert Medel at (408) 885.2397 or Robert.medel@hhs.sccgov.org
