Spring Adventures with BORP: Wildflowers and All-Terrain Exploration
Spring has arrived, and with it come two exciting opportunities to explore the outdoors with the spinal cord injury community. BORP is hosting a pair of events this April designed to get participants out into nature, whether through a peaceful picnic among wildflowers or an adventurous test drive of rugged mobility technology.
Wildflowers and Picnic at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi
On April 18, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the community will gather in Fairfield at Patwino Worrtla Kodoi Dihi. This event is a celebration of the season, featuring a one-mile accessible trail hike specifically curated for wildflower viewing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own food and beverages for a group picnic to enjoy the spring scenery and connect with others.
Terrain Hopper Test Drive at Stafford Lake Park
For those looking to venture further off the beaten path, BORP and Marin County Parks are teaming up on April 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Stafford Lake Park in Novato. This event offers a unique chance to test drive the Terrain Hopper, an all-terrain mobility device engineered to navigate trails that are typically inaccessible.
Each participant will have 45 minutes to pilot the device while accompanied by park staff. It is important to note that BORP will not provide transfer support; individuals must be able to transfer independently or bring an assistant to help. A reserved picnic area will be available for friends and family to gather throughout the day.
Registration and Transportation Details
Both events are limited to 12 participants, and limited transportation is available on a first-come, first-served basis, so early sign-ups are encouraged.
To attend either of these events, everyone must first contact Judy Smith at judithsmith313@gmail.com. Once initial contact is made, the link for online registration will be provided.
