Meeting Recap: Fatherhood and Connection at the Men’s SCI Meetup
The journey of fatherhood was the main focus on April 4th as the Men with SCI support group met for its second quarterly in-person gathering. Facilitated by Armando Rodriguez and Arthur Renowitzky, the afternoon gave the guys a chance to move past their monthly virtual calls and connect face-to-face. A big part of the three-hour session was a really helpful discussion about having children and navigating parenthood after a spinal cord injury. The conversation gave everyone a better look at the possibilities of starting or growing a family, offering plenty of encouragement and real-world perspective to those in the room.
While the talk covered some of the bigger challenges of life after an injury, the vibe stayed positive and supportive. The group even welcomed a new member who was injured just two months ago, which really showed how important this community is for those just starting their recovery. Sponsored by NorCal SCI and the Life Goes On Foundation, the event wrapped up with pizza and drinks as everyone kept the conversation going. The next meeting will be scheduled for sometime this summer, so keep an eye on the NorCal SCI newsletter and website for that information!
