Sam Wallis, Emergency Coordinator for Sonoma County Fire & Emergency Services, will tell us everything we need to know about how to take care of ourselves in case of an emergency. Outdoor Trips and Adventures for Summer and Fall Head outside and enjoy the many fun activities in the Greater Bay Area with Bay Area Recreational and Outreach Programs (BORP), from baseball games to kayaking trips. BORP is a non-profit organization working to improve the health, independence, and social integration of people with physical disabilities through sports, fitness, and recreation programs. Quadriplegic Car Transfer "This is not going to be pretty by the way, but in the quad world it’s not about being pretty, it’s about getting it done," says Cole, a quadriplegic who, along with his partner Charisma, started the YouTube channel, Roll With Cole and Charisma. In their video, Cole and Charisma demonstrate how Charisma assists Cole into her vehicle using a slide board. Watch it here.
Coping with a Disability Hope Johnson, a freelance writer who has cerebral palsy, shares her perspective on having a disability. She writes, "In this article, I would like to address the "elephant in the room." It is a fact that our world can be a cold, cruel place even for able-bodied folks. When one lives with a disability, especially those that affect outward appearances, it is inevitable that somewhere, sometime, one will be forced to deal with discrimination, or in some cases, downright disdain." To assist those newly injured with spinal cord injury or disease as well as those who continue to be affected by long-standing disabilities. We meet the third Monday of the month at Sequoia Senior Solutions, 1372 N. McDowell Blvd., Suite S, Petaluma from 4:00 to 5:30 pm.
We are here to support each other in every way possible by providing useful, up-to-date information about services and products as well as an atmosphere that allows for discussion of personal challenges and solutions to everyday problems.
