Are cures for SCI around the corner?

That's the $64,000 question that everyone wants to know.  The realities are hard to ignore as scientists are recognizing in greater detail the complexity of the spinal cord.

We have reported about the early results of the Asterias Biotherapeutics stem cell clinical trials currently underway at several locations in the U.S.  A few weeks ago, we also reported on the Reeve Foundation's expansion of its Epidural Stimulation clinical trials.  And then, we came across this AMAZING VIDEO which provides a glimpse into the various other attempts at developing that elusive cure.  Yes, we've been given many promises over the years about the "cure" that never seemed to materialize but while our lives go on, we cannot give up on hope.

Yesterday was Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Day and we couldn't help but to think of his wise words about hope.
"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream."
