29 individuals to undergo United Spinal's SCI Peer Mentoring training on July 21

We couldn't be happier with the amazing turnout of 29 individuals in the SCI community who will gather in San Jose on Sat., July 21st to undergo a daylong Peer Mentoring training led by United Spinal Association.

NorCal SCI has been busy over the past couple of months recruiting individuals who can benefit from this formal training and we were thrilled to see the diversity of individuals who have signed up.  We have people coming from as far south as Fresno and as far north as Davis, people who are employed at their respective hospital and rehab centers and are involved with SCI support groups, a physician and a family member.  It's truly inspiring to see the level of importance these individuals have placed on the value of peer mentoring and we are grateful to them.

Our hope is to continue engaging more individuals who can be professionally trained as peer mentors.  Nothing is more reassuring for someone with a new SCI than to speak to someone who's already traveled down the journey they're about to embark upon and be able to guide them around the many obstacles they're likely to face in their lifetime.

NorCal SCI salutes these 29 individuals and appreciates the commitment of United Spinal to help execute these programs throughout the country.
