Jake Javier/Katie Pasichuke "Swim With Mike" fundraiser set for June 24 in Danville

We met Jake Javier a couple of years ago at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center where he was doing his rehab following a spinal cord injury as a result of a dive in a pool and knew right away that he was destined for great things in life.  The guy has a permanent smile planted on his face and has an amazing attitude.

A quadriplegic, he has overcome one challenge after another with the highlight being the completion of his first year at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo.  Along the way, he met fellow San Ramon Valley High School graduate, Katie Pasichuke, at Craig Hospital where they were both doing rehab work.  Katie, a USC student from East Bay, had suffered brain and spinal cord injuries as a result of an accident.  Through his #javiSTRONG54 Foundation, he was able to provide some financial assistance to Katie and her family.

Jake and Katie were recipients of scholarships from the Swim With Mike Foundation in Southern California to help with their expenses as they resumed their education.  The foundation encourages scholarship recipients to hold fundraising events to help fund the organization, basically pay it forward so future applicants can enjoy the same benefits.  As a result, Jake and Katie are partnering on Sun., June 24th by holding a Swim-a-thon and Bellyflop contest at the Del Amigo Swim Club in Danville.  The swim-a-thon starts at 8 a.m. and the bellyflop contest at noon.

You can participate at this event to help support Jake & Katie and the scholarship fund at Swim With Mike.  To register, GO HERE.
