Free beach wheelchairs available at several Northern California beaches

There's still lots of summer left (plus we get that Indian summer, too) and we were pleased to recently learn that the Golden Gate National Recreation Area is now offering free beach wheelchairs at various beaches under its jurisdiction.

The chairs are available on site at Stinson Beach, Muir Beach, Rodeo Beach and Baker Beach.  If you need a beach wheelchair at other sites within Golden Gate National Recreation Area, you may make arrangements to pick up a chair at their headquarters building in Fort Mason, San Francisco Mon. - Fri. from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

As demand for chairs will vary from day to day, you are encouraged to contact them well in advance to check on availability by phone at (415) 561-4700.
