GuideStar awards NorCal SCI with Silver Seal of Transparency

When we launched NorCal SCI in May of 2017, we made a commitment to transparency all throughout everything we’re doing. A key component of that includes financial transparency and so, we were thrilled to be notified last week by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on non-profits, that they have awarded us with the Silver Seal of Transparency.

A significant commitment we made is to operate the foundation just like a business and thus, we determined that the best way to start doing that is by filing taxes with the Internal Revenue Service just like any business would. We completed that for 2017 and will continue to do so for the ensuing years. This allows the public to freely review our operating income and other financial details and how we’re investing such income.

For prospective donors, GuideStar is an easy-to-use site to gather the information needed to inform them about a non-profit’s activities, transparency and compliance before making a decision on their donations.

Our next goal is to be recognized and awarded the coveted Gold Seal and we’ll continue to work to earn the trust of the SCI community in Northern California as well as our donors.
