Two more $2,000 Road To Recovery grants awarded by NorCal SCI, $20,000 for the year so far

NorCal SCI is pleased to announce the awarding of two grants for $2,000 each to Katie Pasichuke of Alamo and Tresa Honaker of Sacramento, bringing the total number of grant recipients to 10.

When we launched our Road To Recovery program 5 1/2 months ago, we knew there will be no shortage of requests for funding by the SCI community. There is great demand for continuing rehab therapy long after health insurance benefits have been exhausted and, in many cases, so has personal wealth. Sadly, we’ve had to turn down a few applicants that didn’t meet the requirements of the program at this time. With every one of recipients, we discovered a tremendous amount of determination and energy they possessed.

Thus, today, we are pleased to announce the list of the remaining eight grant recipients. In the coming weeks, we will be profiling each of them and share the stories of their injury itself and the journey ahead they’re focusing on and how the grant is playing a small part on that experience. The recipients are:

Mia Gonzalez, Fresno
Jessica Harris, Gold River
Casey Proud, Daly City
Bruce Mansy, Fresno
Fabian Meza, Ceres
Matthew Machuca, Tracy
Michael Pingatore, Chico
Daniel Handziak, Folsom

As we announced last week, our Board of Directors announced an increase of $10,000 in funding to this program, so if you (or someone you know) wish to be considered for a grant, please refer to the Road To Recovery page for all the details.
