NorCal SCI is pleased to present a one-hour virtual session on Sat., July 25th at 11 a.m. PT led by Rachel Kahn and Erin Hallett who have developed a class where they will discuss how meditation and mindfulness play important roles in body awareness, addressing compensatory patterns and everyday movement. This will include tools and tips on how to increase your body awareness and how to perform simple kinds of meditation to calm and reset your nervous system and your breath. They will also talk about the importance of self-release (a form of self massage) and how to perform simple and easy self-release techniques on yourself, especially those involving your head, neck and shoulders.

This class is specifically designed for wheelchair users of all abilities thanks to our class leaders who have incredible depth and experience working with the spinal cord injury population. Rachel is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and is currently pursuing her license for massage therapy. Erin has a Doctorate of Physical Therapy and is a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist. She is currently a Physical Therapist at UCSF and a co-founder of No Limits Collaborative and has worked extensively with the SCI population.
