Experiencing chronic pain after SCI? Learn how mindfulness can help you reclaim your life on April 27
Chronic pain is the monster that steals hearts and souls and impacts every aspect of life for a person with a spinal cord injury (SCI). Chronic pain never sleeps or rests. There is only bad or worse. Our presenters, Pathway to Mindfulness co-founders Bill Van Ollefen, who has SCI, and Val Foster, have developed a revolutionary approach to living and thriving with chronic pain. Validated by scientific studies, they employ mindfulness as a foundation to physically change a pain sufferer’s brain, patterns of behavior and most importantly, the relationship with pain. Their presentation is part of “NorCal SCI Presents: Virtual is the New Reality Series” and is taking place on Tues., April 27th at 5 p.m. PST. You may register to attend HERE.
You will be treated to an exploration of mindfulness, a valuable talk for individual pain sufferers, their families and caretakers. Bill and Val will also introduce their newest book, “Chronic Pain? Reclaim Your Life: 56 Days, 56 Ways to mindfully ease your pain and suffering.” The partners studied Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Center for Mindfulness, vipassana meditation at the University of Holistic Theology, and are certified meditation instructors, mindfulness life coaches, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) practitioners, CBT life coaches/anxiety specialty and mindfulness CBT practitioners.
This free virtual presentation is funded through a grant by the Reeve Foundation. Once you register, you will immediately receive a confirmation e-mail from us which you should keep for access information to the virtual event.
