Upcoming Meeting

This month’s meeting of the Sonoma-Marin SCI Support Group will be held on Monday, October 21 from 4:00-5:30 pm at Sequoia Senior Solutions, 1372 N. McDowell Blvd., Suite S, Petaluma.
Srin Madipalli, a product manager at Airbnb with a focus on making travel easier for people with disabilities, will be our speaker. Srin was an entrepreneur who founded Accomable, a travel platform for people with disabilities, which was acquired by Airbnb in November 2017. Srin is from London, UK and previously practiced as an attorney at a leading international law firm and is a self-taught web developer. He has degrees from King’s College London and Oxford University. He will be bringing the latest news on how Airbnb is making accessible travel easier.

Brain Implants Help Quadriplegic Walk With Mind-Controlled Exoskeleton Suit
Researchers in France unveiled a mind-controlled exoskeleton suit piloted by Thibault, a young quadriplegic who was paralyzed from the shoulders down after falling 40 feet from a balcony, severing his spinal cord.  Now, before you get too excited, the exoskeleton suit weighs a hefty 143 lbs. and Thibault does need to be attached to a ceiling-harness in order to minimize the risk of him falling over in the exoskeleton - it means the device is not yet ready to move outside the laboratory. READ MORE.

Mission of the Sonoma-Marin SCI Support Group

To assist those newly injured with spinal cord injury or disease as well as those who continue to be affected by long-standing disabilities. We meet the third Monday of the month at Sequoia Senior Solutions, 1372 N. McDowell Blvd., Suite S, Petaluma from 4:00 to 5:30 pm. 

We are here to support each other in every way possible by providing useful, up-to-date information about services and products as well as an atmosphere that allows for discussion of personal challenges and solutions to everyday problems.
